Last updated: March 13, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Pilot Aptitude Test (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Pilot Aptitude Test is a cognitive assessment training application that provides practice versions of standardized cognitive tests commonly used in pilot and air traffic controller selection processes. The App includes six test modules:

  1. Running Memory Span (RMS) — Working memory assessment based on the running memory span paradigm (Pollack, Johnson, & Knaff, 1959).
  2. Selective Concentration Test (SKT) — Attention and rule-switching assessment inspired by card-sorting paradigms (Grant & Berg, 1948).
  3. Observation Window Test (OWT) — Perceptual speed assessment based on Thurstone’s Primary Mental Abilities framework (Thurstone, 1938).
  4. Mental Arithmetic (KRN) — Mathematical reasoning under time pressure, based on cognitive arithmetic research (Ashcraft, 1992).
  5. Visual Memory / Paired Associates (MEK) — Visual memory capacity assessment using paired-associate learning (Calkins, 1894).
  6. Cube Rotation (ROT) — Spatial reasoning assessment based on mental rotation research (Shepard & Metzler, 1971).

3. Important Disclaimer

Pilot Aptitude Test is a training and practice tool only. The App is:

  • NOT an official DLR (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt) test or any other certified assessment.
  • NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any aviation authority, airline, or selection body.
  • NOT a predictor or guarantee of performance in actual cognitive selection tests.
  • NOT a medical or psychological diagnostic tool.

The tests are inspired by well-established cognitive psychology paradigms that are publicly documented in academic literature. They are designed for personal practice and self-improvement purposes only.

4. Free Credits and Pro Purchase

4.1 Free Credits

New users receive 6 free test credits. Each test session consumes one credit, regardless of whether the test is completed. Credits are stored locally on your device and persist across app reinstalls.

4.2 Pilot Aptitude Test Pro

Users may purchase a one-time, lifetime upgrade (“Pilot Aptitude Test Pro”) to unlock unlimited test sessions. This purchase is processed through the Apple App Store.

4.3 Refunds

All purchases are subject to Apple’s App Store refund policies. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund, please visit Apple Support.

5. Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including but not limited to software code, user interface design, graphics, icons, and text — is the intellectual property of the developer and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
